Why Carhartt Cargo Pants

My handyman son-in-law, Glenn, had just finished converting a wide breeze-way at the back of my house to a screened-in porch. It looked great and I told him so. Then I said, “Glenn, I noticed your work pants. They look comfortable.” He came back with, “Yes, they are comfortable, but they are not just work pants; they are ‘cargo pants.’

“What are cargo pants,” I answered back. “These pants are made of heavy duty cloth that is quite rugged and fits kind of loosely; and, notice the five large pockets. In my business of carpentry they really come in handy to put my smaller and most used tools.” He added, “I really like them. You should get yourself a pair for working around the house and yard.” “Where do I get a pair?” I asked. He immediately said: “Carhartt!” “And why Carhartt cargo pants?” I asked. “Well, I have been wearing them for quite some time and they really hold up. They are tough and well built. I think they are really quality stuff,” was his reply. “Thanks,” I said. “I will look into them.” And I did just that.

Being a freelance writer, I do like to do research. And, so in my research I found a lot of good information on the Carhartt brand and Carhartt Cargo Pants. What I found was very interesting to say the least. And, what I discovered was enough for me to go out and purchase a pair for myself.

Here is what I found.

There are many companies that make workware, including variations of cargo pants. But, of them all, Carhartt, Inc. seems to have the most fascinating history and heritage in their line of workware. It seems to have all started in 1889 when 34 year old Harlan Carhart started to make special work clothes for railroad employees. It all happened after he talked with a railroad engineer. What he found out Party Lingerie Dresses from the man led him to create an overall garment specifically for the railroad worker which had never been made before. It was sturdy, durable, long-wearing, practical, and especially comfortable. He was on his way to success. In an entrepreneurial spirit he changed his name slightly by adding another “t” at the end of his name in order to stand out from other business men.

Since that time, Harlan Carhartt’s company continued to grow to this day. Although Harlan Carhartt died in 1937 at the age of 82, his company remains a family owned operation. They continue to be committed to Harlan’s mission of providing “Best-in-Class” apparel for the active worker.

Carhartt’s product line has continued to expand also, as there are many styles now to choose from. They include not only workware for men, but also for women and “workware” or “playwear” for children. And, in all they manufacturer, this family owned business continues to work toward the goal that Harlan Carhartt set out to accomplish: “Set a standard of excellence to which all others would aspire.” Using and wearing any of their products makes a believer of the wearer that they have indeed accomplished this.

Exactly what is it that makes Carhartt Cargo Pants and all of their products so outstanding? Here is a short list of ‘Why Carhartt Cargo Pants.’

From 8-ounce, 100% cotton ring spun canvas, to 7.5-ounce 100% ring spun cotton, to special Ripstop fabric of 55% cotton and 45% nylon to name a few combinations. And we don’t want to forget to mention Carhartt’s flame resistant canvas cargo pant. It is made of 8.5-ounce FR, a blend of 88% cotton and 12% high tenacity cotton and a multitude of other appropriate features.
